With effect from today, Peel Croft Surgery has become a partership between Drs Cecil Farrar, Catherine Faarup and Dev Pai. The new doctor rotas will come into effect from next Monday 7 April, when Dr Farrar will only work for 3 sessions, Dr Faarup for 8 sessions and Dr Pai for 5 sessions. We have tried to forsee any difficulties, but please bear with us initally to ensure that we have got the appointment levels right - we will actually be offering slightly more appointments than at present.

We are delighted to welcome Jeanette Hurst to the surgery. Jeanette is our new receptionist, who will be working Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, but will also cover for other staff during holidays. At the same time, Kay, who is well known to you all, is training to become a Health Care Assistant, and will help Nurse Sue wherever possible. Kay will have a dual role, as she will also do some reception duties.

With effect from 1st April 2008 there will be changes to this surgery. Dr Farrar will be reducing his surgeries to 3 per week, but at the same time we will be welcoming back Dr Pai, who will initially be available for 5 surgeries a week. Dr Faarup will continue to do 8 surgeries a week. The practice will then become a partnership between Drs Farrar, Faarup and Pai.
We do not envisage that there will be any impact on patients, and we will continue to endeavour to offer the highest quality of care to you all. However, Dr Farrar will obviously only have limited availability, so it will be a good opportunity for those of you who usually see Dr Farrar, to get to know the other doctors.

Our Patient Forum are running a raffle in the surgery for a magnificent Christmas Hamper. Tickets are available in the waiting room, with all the proceeds being spend on improvements to the waiting room. The Patient Forum have a number of ideas, so I would encourage you to participate in the raffle if possible.

Dr Tarun will be leaving us at the end of December, to go to another practice in Lichfield. Many thanks to Dr Tarun for all his help whilst he's been here. In his place, Dr Martina Wichert will be joining us for the next 4 months. I know you will all wish to welcome her to the practice.

On Wedesday 21st November, we will be without our computer system for most of the day. This is to allow our hardware to be upgraded. The impact should be minimal, but it will mean that repeat prescriptions will take a day longer than usual - any scripts ordered on the Wednesday will not be avialable until the Friday. Our apologies for the inconvenience, which we have tried to minimise as much as possible.

Please book your flu jab as soon as possible - you are eligible for a jab if you are over 65, or suffer from Heart Disease, Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease or COPD, or are a carer. The clinics will be from 4th October until 12th October, and then from 29th to 31st October, and will be in the morning at 10am, or afternoon at 3.30pm. As usual, we will also be offering tea and biscuits as a reward!
July 2007
From 1st August Dr Pai will be leaving us, and we will be welcoming a new Registrar, Dr Tarun Yamdagni - or Dr Tarun as we will be calling him. Dr Tarun will be with us for the next 12 months and I know you will all wish to welcome him. Dr Pai is now a fully qualified G.P., and for the next 6 months will be working around South Staffordshire. However, the good news is that he will be returning to Peel Croft next April! We will let you have further information regarding his return nearer the time
June 2007
During the weekend of 9th and 10th June all the surgery staff were once again whisked away on what has become our annual trip. This year we returned to Ireland, and a riotous time ensued. Every time we've been to Ireland the sun has shone, and this year was no different - we don't believe that it rains a lot in Ireland, as we haven't seen it! As usual we had a fabulous time, visiting many beautiful places, and again our thanks to Dr Farrar for 'forcing' us to go. The photo shows us at the cliffs of Moher.

We have now had the results of the patient survey analysed, and we are once again delighted with the results. They show that you consider this surgery to be better that the national average in every one of the 27 catagories! Our thanks to all who took part, and we will endeavour to live up to these standards. Overall we improved very slightly from last year, which is also pleasing. The only area where we saw any significant deterioration was with access to the doctor of your choice. We believe this is because Dr Farrar is now working less hours than before, and so it is sometimes difficult to see him. Unfortunately, he is not likely to increase his hours, so I would ask you to consider seeing one of the other doctors. Further information is available in the surgery.
May 2007
From the 14th May, and lasting about 2 weeks, we will be asking patients to complete our annual survey form. This survey allows us to ensure we are maintaining the high standards we set ourselves, and to address any problems that are highlighted. It is completely confidential, and the results are analysed by an independent agency. We would encourage you to complete the form if asked, and we will publish the results when we receive them, later in the year.

Can you help us?
We want to set up a Patient Group to help and advise us on various aspects of the running of the surgery. Are you able to spare an hour or so every 3 months? If so, please contact the Practice Manager, Tim Hinchley, who will give you further details.
November 2006
We have a few 'extra' flu jabs available this year, so if you would like a jab, and have not already been offered one, please contact reception to book - these will be allocated on a 'first come' basis.
September 2006
We will be starting the flu jab clinics at the end of September. As happened last year, the flu vaccines are being delivered in two parts, at the end of September and October. Please don't worry if you miss the first round of clinics as you will be able to come to the second round. A full list of the clinic dates is available in the surgery, and please ask at, or telephone reception to make an appointment. This year the Health Authority is only sending reminders to patients who have not previously had a flu jab (usually when you reach 65 years young), so don't wait for your letter to contact us. As before, we are also offering jabs to patients with Heart disease, Diabetes, Kidney Disease, and COPD. If in doubt please don't hesitate to contact us.
July 2006
On 2nd August we will welcome our new Registrar, Dr K (Dev) Pai. Dr Pai will be working with us for the next 12 months, so will get to know many of you during that time. I know you will all join with us to make him welcome at Peel Croft. At the same time Dr Cheruku will leave us. Dr Cheruku has beeen with us for the last 6 months, although for the last 3 months she only worked 1 day a week at the surgery (the rest of the week she was at the hospital). We wish her every success for the future, and particularly as she is expecting her first child later in the year.
July 2006
We have recently received the results of our patient survey, which were collated independently. They show a slight overall improvement from last year, and we are once again delighted with them. We are able to benchmark this surgery against 4000 other surgery results since 2004, and in every single area we scored better than the national average - in some cases by over 30%! A summary of the results is in the surgery, and if you want to see them in full, please ask at reception. A big thank you to all who participated, and we will continue to try and keep Peel Croft at this high level.
July 2006
On June 10th Dr Farrar took all the surgery staff away to PARIS!! for an 'away weekend'. Some of you may know that these events have become an annual tradition, and every year we seem to improve on the previous year. This year was no exception! The Staff had no idea where they were going, and it was only at check-in at East Midlands airport that they realised we were off the Paris. And what a weekend it was - temperatures in the 30s centigrade, great food, visits to the sights of Paris, including the Eifel Tower, Louvre Palace, the Latin quarter, Notre Dame etc. And next year? who knows!!
June 2006
From the 12th June we will be asking patients who visit the surgery to complete our annual patient survey form. This is collated independently, and we use the results to improve wherever possible. If you are asked, we should be very grateful if you will spare a couple of minutes to complete the form for us, completely anonymously. We will share the results with you when we get them, usually about 8 weeks later.
June 2006
Unfortunately Dr Tiguti has had to relinguish her position here at Peel Croft for family reasons - we are sorry to see her go so soon, and wish her and her family the best of luck over the next few months. We will have another doctor joining us in August for the next 12 months, and we will let you have further details nearer the time.
April 2006
You may see a notice in reception about moving house. This is to advise you that when you move out of our catchments area you may have to find a new doctor. This is particularly relevant should you move to the outlying villages or across the county border. Under our new G.P. comtract we are obliged to take on any new patients who move into our area, and as a result our patient numbers have increased significantly. You may therefore now find you are asked to find an alternative surgery - if this is the case, we will write to you, but this would only happen if you move house.
April 2006
At the beginning of May Dr Cheruku and Dr Tiguti will be swapping roles. This means that Dr Cheruku will no longer be seeing patients, but Dr Tiguti will start to have her own surgeries.
January 2006
On 8th February we will be saying goodbye to Dr Sinha. Dr Sinha has been with us for six months, and has got to know a number of patients, so it will be a wrench to see him go. A big 'Thank You' from all of us for the work he has done whilst he has been with us.
In his place we will be having two new doctors, who will share his role. Initially Dr Purnima Cheruku will be here for 4 days a week, and Dr Usha Tiguti will be here for one day a week. They are both lady doctors, so Dr Farrar will be really outnumbered! In May they will swop round, with Dr Tiguti here for 4 days, and Dr Cheruku for one day. The rest of the time they are working at the hospital, so don't think they're only part time! Please make them feel welcome.
September 2005
We will be starting the flu jabs on 17th October this year. There has been a delay in manufacturing the vaccines, so we will have to run the clinics in two parts, the first starting on 17th October, and the second in the middle of November, when we receive the next batch of jabs. Please don't worry if you can't be fitted in in October, we will get round to you in November! As last year, we will be offering you a cup of tea or coffee, and a biscuit after your jab.
July 2005
On August 2nd we will say goodbye to Dr Rathi, who will have completed her attachment at Peel Croft, and is moving to Liverpool. Many thanks for her contribution over the last few months, and we wish her every success in her new post. She will be replaced by Dr Rahul Sinha, who joins us on 3rd August. Dr Sinha is completing his final year before he will start practicing as a GP in his own right, so already has considerable experience as a GP. We knw you will all make him feel welcome at Peel Croft.
June 2005
We have now received the results from the patient survey. Our overall rating has declined slightly from last year to 77 (80 in 2004), but we are still better than the average in every one of the 27 questions. The decline is due to less 'excellent' scores, moving to only(!) 'very good'. The number of 'poor' and 'fair' scores have also reduced considerably from 2004. Overall, whilst obviously disappointed with the decline, we are pleased that you still rate us so highly. A summary is on the surgery notice board, and if you want to see the full results, these are available from Tim Hinchley, Practice Manager.
May 2005
Patient survey - we may be asking you to complete survey forms over the next two weeks. Please help us if you can by completing these forms, which will allow us to see where we can improve. They are completely anonymous, so please say what you think! We will share the results with you in due course.
April 2005
We are delighted to announce that you are now able to order your repeat prescriptions via this web site. Click on Prescriptions, and then Online Requests, and complete the request form. This will send an e-mail to a web address we access each morning, and your presciption will be available for collection the following day. This is a new facility, so please let us know if you experience any difficulties.
March 2005
On April 5th we will say goodbye to Dr Hauffe, who will have completed her attachment here. She will be returning to Queens Hospital, to work in Paediatrics, and we wish her every success for the future. Dr Hauffe has made a big impact in the short time she has been with us, and we would like to thank her for all the work she has done. She will be replaced by Dr Nikita Rathi, who will again be with us for four months, and I know you will all make her feel welcome.
