Patient Survey

We are currently undertaking a patient survey at the surgery. Your perspective, as a patient, is crucial. Patient engagement is essential if we are to develop a successful working partnership for the future.

Out of Hours
During the daytime a receptionist can contact the doctor on call. After 6.30pm and at weekends, when the surgery is closed, your call will be automatically forwarded to the Badger Out of Hours Service. If you want to ring them direct, their number is

0300 1 30 30 30.

You can also ring NHS Direct for advice on

0845 4647.

Home Visits
The doctor will visit any patient who is too ill to attend the surgery – please telephone before 9.30am wherever possible if you require a home visit.

Cancelling your Appointment
If you are unable to attend an appointment with one of the doctors or nurses, please telephone us as soon as possible, so the appointment can be used by another patient.

coffeediaryAppointments

Appointments can be made by telephone or in person. Routine appointments with the doctor or nurse will usually be available within two working days. You have the right to see a particular doctor, but you may have to wait longer for an appointment.  We aim to see all patients within twenty minutes of their appointment time. Reception staff will inform you upon arrival if there is likely to be a longer wait.

Urgent Appointments

These will be given the same day and we will always endeavour to see young children as soon as possible.

Appointment Availability

Peel Croft Surgery provides routine surgeries every day from Monday to Friday, except Wednesday afternoons. On Wednesday afternoon, we offer an emergency on-call service only, shared with King Street surgery, and a doctor from either surgery may attend.

The surgery is closed on Saturday and Sunday, and in case of emergency, please telephone Adastra (our out of hours service) on 0300 1 303030.  You may also useNHS Direct which will give you advice and the number is 0845 4647

Appointment Lengths

The allocated length of an appointment is 10 minutes. However, if you think you will need more than 10 minutes please ask for a longer appointment. Our receptionists are there to help and will do their best to assist you in obtaining the most benefit from the appointment system. If you need to bring your children with you into the consultation we would remind you that you are still responsible for their behaviour. The doctor or nurse may stop the consultation and ask you to re-book if children become unruly.  If you require more than one member of the family to see the doctor or nurse, please inform the receptionist. One appointment is for one person only.

Early Morning and Late Evening Appointments

Each week, we offer either early morning appointments starting from 7.30am or late evening until 7.30pm for those patients who are not able to attend during normal surgery hours.  Please ask reception staff what dates and times are available.
